Automation Supervisor's tasks

We perform the Automation Supervisor’s tasks according to the project-specific consultant agreement, time usage plan, Optireal’s quality process, and the supervision plan approved by the client. The supervision plan serves as a guideline and task list for the Automation Supervisor, which they use as a tool to guide their own work.

Automation Supervisor's review of plans

The Automation Supervisor’s review of Automation Plans brings practical site perspective, coordination, and often cost-saving proposals to the plans. The review of Automation Plans aims especially to ensure that:

  • Automation regulations, Automation laws, and Automation standards have been followed
  • The client’s possible Automation Design Guide has been followed
  • Automation-related matters agreed in design meetings have been considered
  • Automation systems can be implemented according to the Automation Plans
  • Automation Plans and other plans, as well as contract documents, are consistent with each other
  • There is no risk of significant additional/change work in the Automation contract in the Automation Plans
  • The Automation Plans have considered the special requirements and needs of users
  • The Automation Plans have considered the client’s lifecycle control models and environmental classification requirements for Automation Systems

The Automation Supervisor utilizes any available information model in the review of Automation Plans to understand the overall picture and coordination. The review of Automation Plans is done as thoroughly as possible, with the aim of ensuring that the Automation Supervisor becomes comprehensively familiar with the site in preparation for the construction phase Automation Supervision. During the review of Automation Plans, the Automation Supervisor begins to prevent potential Automation problems and identifies potential risk factors for the construction phase in advance.

The Automation Supervisor delivers the findings of the Automation Plan review to the client and the project design team. Often, it is advisable to discuss the observations in a joint plan review meeting, during which the project team agrees on the changes and corrections to be made to the Automation Plans.

Planning of Automation Supervision tasks

The Automation Supervisor prepares a supervision plan that takes into account the individual needs and risks of each project, which the Automation Supervisor gets approved by the client. When planning Automation Supervision measures, the Automation Supervisor must have access to contract documents and Automation Plans. The Automation Supervisor familiarizes themselves with the documents during the planning and implementation of Automation Supervision measures. The Automation Supervision plan is kept continuously up to date and updated in case of any changes. Changes to the Automation Supervision plan approved by the client are always approved by the client.

General responsible Automation Supervision tasks

The Automation Supervisor ensures that the main contractor has prepared the site safety plans and ensures that the main contractor has prepared the safety document and safety plans required by law. The Automation Supervisor ensures that the site receives the necessary Automation Plans and specifications from Automation design so that the project schedule is not endangered due to delays by the Automation designer. The Automation Supervisor monitors the realization of the general schedule and keeps an eye on the prerequisites for meeting interim goals. The Automation Supervisor verbally and in writing notifies of possible deviations. The Automation Supervisor ensures that all connection agreements are made and that they are made in sufficient time.

Quality control of technical implementation

The Automation Supervisor plays a key role in ensuring that Automation installations are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with all applicable standards. Financial supervision of Automation work

The report is discussed at the site meeting and attached to the site meeting minutes.

Supervision of operational guidance

It is extremely important that when the building is transferred from the builders to the maintenance organization, the users and maintenance personnel have the prerequisites to manage with the property and building services systems. The Automation Supervisor monitors that the Automation contractor prepares training programs for different systems and performs the training and operational guidance that are part of their tasks. The Automation Supervisor ensures that the property’s operation and maintenance personnel are involved in the acceptance phase. The Automation Supervisor monitors the operational guidance session and ensures that all necessary matters are trained and that the training is given with sufficient accuracy/scope.

Automation Supervisor's acceptance procedures

The acceptance phase inspections of Automation Supervision are carried out according to agreements, the supervision plan, the inspection document, and work specifications. Functional tests are prepared and performed with particular care. The Automation Supervisor specifies all items to be inspected and the results of the inspection in the functional test protocol. Usually, the Automation Supervisor’s tasks include documented inspection rounds at the site for annual and warranty inspections. During the warranty period, the Automation Supervisor checks that the contractors have taken care of the warranty period maintenance and quality assurance tasks that belong to the contractors.
